Base Pair offers exciting and Base Pair Biotechnologies scientists in the labchallenging work in the growing nucleic aptamer field. In addition to custom aptamer selection and aptamer-based applications development, we are constantly evaluating new techniques and technologies. We are a small company that encourages hard work, mutual respect, and innovative science. At present, we have openings for a Scientist and an Associate Scientist. Details of the Scientist and Associate Scientist positions are outlined below. We are also interviewing for a Senior Manager or Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate will have experience with complex selling in life science and will be located in California’s bay area or Southern California.

Scientist

Base Pair is seeking a motivated scientist to perform research, aptamer development, and assay/product development in support of grants, customer-funded projects, and internal research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technical expertise to contribute to development project design and ongoing data review and design updates
  • Manage individual projects and perform project tasks to meet or exceed project goals on time and on budget
  • Communicate effectively with customers and collaborators as needed throughout projects
  • Contribute to grant applications, scientific publications, and customer proposals as needed
  • Maintain accurate activity records in accordance with guidance from senior management, leveraging existing company software and databases, including electronic timesheets, lab notebooks and Base Pair’s AptaTracker database.

 

Requirements:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Education – B.S. in a life science field and 6+ years of post-graduate experience in a biotechnology, life science tools or pharmaceutical company performing research and development or M.S. in a life science field and 4+ years of post-graduate experience in a biotechnology, life science tools or pharmaceutical company performing research and development or Ph.D. in a life science field, plus either one years’ experience successfully performing product development or custom services at a life sciences company or at least one year of postdoctoral research in a molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory successfully developing and performing standard molecular biology and/or biochemistry techniques
  • Demonstrated expertise (4+ years) in nucleic acid aptamer selection
  • Expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, expertise in performing next generation sequencing, and expertise in performing PCR
  • Expertise in developing immunoassays is preferred
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills

Associate Scientist

Base Pair is seeking an associate scientist to perform research, aptamer development, and assay/product development in support of grants, customer-funded projects, and internal research initiatives.

  • Expertise in molecular biology and PCR
  • Expertise in aptamer development, next generation sequencing, and assay development is preferred
  • Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills
