Fibronectin is a high-molecular weight (~440kDa) glycoprotein of the extracellular matrix that binds to membrane-spanning receptor proteins called integrins. Similar to integrins, fibronectin binds extracellular matrix components such as collagen, fibrin, and heparan sulfate proteoglycans (e.g. syndecans).

This aptamer was selected by scientists at Base Pair Biotechnologies using proprietary methods and Fibronectin from bovine plasma, [Sigma Cat #F4759] but was also affinity tested with human plasma fibronectin, Advanced BioMatrix, San Diego, CA [Part No. 5050] as a target. Both selection and validations were conducted in 20 mM Tris, 100 mM NaCl, 0.005% Tween 20 in nuclease free water, pH 7.4.
