Aptamer discovery is a complex process. The selection process focuses on the discovery of stable aptamers that selectively bind a target of interest with a high degree of affinity. In some cases, aptamer performance may fall short of the stability or affinity requirements of specific end-use applications. In many cases, aptamer modifications are required for immobilization or detection. Luckily, there are many techniques for improving aptamer performance post-selection. The most common techniques are described in this article.
