Interleukin-10, IL-10, is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that can inhibit the activity of TH1 cells, NK cells, and macrophages. It is an important immunoregulator during infection. While IL-10 can prevent damage caused by over-production of inflammatory cytokines, elevated IL-10 levels can lead to fatal infection.
